Thatch Caye Celebrates 5th Season!

Thatch Caye is finally reopened for the 2011/2012 season after 2 months of refurbishment and improvements to our coastline, beaches, and facilities.   We were spared from any storms tracking across the western Caribbean, which allowed us to move forward with new thatch roof projects in our main dining area and a major facelift to all the accommodations and greenery.    We’ve been fortunate in attracting back Kris Shaw as our General Manager. Kris helped us in our very first season to transition Thatch Caye from a construction site into a people friendly Island Resort. We have also attracted top notch local talents to Thatch Caye in the marine activities area as well as groundskeepers and service personnel.  Thatch has always prided itself on personal service and the addition of these new talents will continue that tradition.

The dolphins are jumping and the manatees are filling their bellies on the sea grass. Spotted Eagle Rays continue to glide by our over water cabanas and all the local snorkel spots are teaming with colorful inhabitants.   The temperatures have cooled a touch from the summer heat and the cool sea breezes have returned.    As we move into our 5th season, we will update this feature with stories and photos of under and over water adventures from the international guests who call Thatch Caye home this season.
